Creating ActiveX Documents

ActiveX code components, formerly called OLE servers, are libraries of objects that provide an easy way to package code for reuse. Libraries of procedures can be created for use with other applications (such as Microsoft Office) that host Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications. This lesson describes two methods for implementing ActiveX code components.
After this lesson, you will be able to:
  • Identify two ways of implementing ActiveX code components.
  • Create an ActiveX DLL in Visual Basic and use it from another application.
  • Explain how an ActiveX executable file is implemented.
  • Compare and contrast single- and multi-use components.
