This chapter describes the default query for the dashboard site. It reviews the syntax for the query and provides suggestions for how to customize the default query for your deployment.

The default query runs through the Search Web Part on the Microsoft® SharePoint^™ Portal Server 2001 dashboard site. It uses the probabilistic ranking feature of the search engine provided in the Search service, in addition to properties exposed through the SharePoint Portal Server schema. Two query strings executed in parallel compose the default query. The first string performs a query on matching categories. The second string performs a query for Best Bets and matching documents.
