When SQL Server is installed, a number of directories are added to the PATH environment variable that contain SQL Server applications and tools that can be executed from the command line.
The DTS Run Utility for Windows (dtsrunui.exe) can be used to execute and manage DTS packages. This application provides a graphical interface to run a DTS package immediately or schedule a package for later execution. This application is started from the command line by typing dtsruniu in a Command Prompt window. A shortcut can also be created to this executable under the Start Menu for convenience. The DTS Run Utility for Windows has a location box that allows the user to browse to and load the DTS package of interest. The package can be stored in SQL Server, SQL Server Meta Data Services, or as a DTS Structured Storage File.
