Option 3: Sync-and-Go Model

Option 3: Sync-and-Go Model

The third model is an extension of the second with additional complexity in the client computer. With sync and go the client is capable of autonomous operation for some amount of time or over some geographic region. The server computer delivers the needed information to support the operation in a "sync" operation after which the client can "go" autonomously until the limits of that content are reached. Normally the client and server are able to "sync" again prior to the client reaching this limit and the client is therefore able to "go" continuously. This model is applicable mostly to mosre capable clients such as in-car systems. These systems have access to tens of megabytes of volatile memory and sometimes carry tens of gigabytes of read-write disk.
