At the time that this book was published, the release of Content Management Server 2002 was still several months away long enough that it was still difficult to have complete confidence in the exact feature set, and long enough that it still made sense to discuss the 2001 version in much of this chapter. Wherever possible, Content Management Server functionality was discussed in a generic way so that the concepts mastered could be applied to either version. This section of the chapter will highlight the ways in which the 2002 version, as planned, will be different than the 2001 version.
The various changes that distinguish the 2001 and 2002 versions of Content Management Server are described according to how they affect the people in the various roles, such as site programmers, site administrators, authors, and editors. Changes that do not fit neatly into any of these categories are addressed at the end of the section. It is important to note that because this product is still being developed, the changes discussed here are not guaranteed to be present in Content Management Server 2002.
