Activity 9.1: Deploying a Web Application

Trey Research is implementing a Web-based application to market its services. The application will consist of static content only. No COM+ objects or ISAPI filters will be used. After the application was developed, it was deployed to a testing/staging server. You must define a strategy for deploying the application into the production environment. The environment includes one Web cluster that contains four members. The cluster uses NLB and Application Center 2000 to load balance the cluster. Each cluster member runs IIS as its Web service. Because the Web site supports other applications that must remain highly available, no downtime is scheduled for maintenance. You want to deploy the new application with as little disruption to service as possible.

  1. What’s the first step of your deployment strategy?
  2. What’s the second step of your deployment strategy?
  3. How will Web services be affected by this deployment strategy?
