Chapter 9 -- Designing Microsoft Windows 2000 Services Security

Chapter 9

About This Chapter

When you deploy common services in Microsoft Windows 2000, you should consider security issues. Without proper planning, these services may expose your network to certain vulnerabilities. Proper planning will lessen both the probability of these vulnerabilities and their effect and create a more secure network.

This chapter looks at design considerations for the following services:

  • Domain Name Services (DNS)
  • Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)
  • Remote Installation Services (RIS)
  • Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)
  • Terminal Services

Before You Begin

To complete this chapter, you must read the chapter scenario. This scenario is used throughout the chapter to apply the design decisions discussed in each lesson.
