Summary

The Windows Communication Foundation supports plain XML REST services in addition to services that communicate using SOAP messages. All that is required to communicate with such services is a simple custom encoder to handle plain XML messages. In explaining how that custom encoder was built and made configurable, this chapter has also shown how to extend the Windows Communication Foundation with the addition of custom binding elements, and how to allow those custom binding elements to be configured using an application configuration file.
