An Alternative Approach

Now that we have gone through all the screens included in typical setup programs, let's see what's left. Clearly, more complex programs require a more complex setup program, so a giant 50 MB program can easily justify a multiple-step process with the options for full customization. But smaller, simpler programs do not need such complexity. All that is really needed is to select a destination folder, a Start menu program folder, and perhaps a couple of options. In this case, it isn't necessary to have a single screen to gather each piece of information. Why not use a setup program that looks like this:

This setup program gives users all the options they need with a simple, one-click install. Don't you think that this user interface is much better? It's certainly easier to use.
