Chapter Seven. Mid-Book Exam

The book is divided into discussions of topics as they appear in the phases of a project and into the knowledge areas. The project phases are now finished, and this is the midpoint of the book. To find out how you are doing in remembering the topics and questions presented in the first part of the book, the mid-book practice examination follows.

There are 108 questions. The questions come from the text, but their order is completely changed. After the questions, you will find a complete set of answers. This information is also on the CD.

The practice test should take no more than two hours, and for most people, it will take a lot less. You can also take it in sections by answering a smaller number of questions. You can break it up any way you want. The best way to record your answers is by printing your answers on a yellow pad.

The questions are random; there is no set of questions on a specific topic. This way you will see how you encounter the questions on the PMP exam where the questions are also in random sequence.

If you get to a question that has you stumped, forget it and go on. You can always come back to it later. Answer the questions you are sure of and then come back to ones that you do not know. In order to make this work you should write out the numbers of the questions you are going to practice with on the yellow pad and go back to the ones you do not answer at a later time. This is also a technique that will stand you in good stead with the actual PMP exam.

Time yourself. When two hours is up, stop. Most of you will have already finished the practice exam. When you are finished, go to the answers section to check how you did. It is a good idea to read the explanations with the answers again. It will reinforce the answers for you.

Good luck.
