Taking a Test

After you select and start the test you want to take, the test questions for the selected exam are displayed.

The question text displays in the first section of the window and the available answer choices display in the second section of the window. To bookmark a question so that you can easily return to the question later during the test, select the Mark checkbox.

The Time Remaining box only displays if you are taking a test in Certification mode, or if you are taking a test in Custom mode and selected for the timer to be on. If you are taking a test in Custom mode and want to extend the amount of time you have remaining, click the Options button.

Navigating Through a Test

To navigate through the test questions, click the Previous, Next, and Go To buttons. You can also select these options from the Navigation Menu. Click Previous to move to a test question that you have previously viewed. Click Next to move to the next test question. You do not have to answer a question in order to move to the next question. Click Go To to view a specific test question, to jump to the first test question, to jump to the last test question, or to view the first unanswered question.

Sorting the Test Questions

Your test questions are sorted by question number by default. Each question's number is displayed in the upper left corner of the question window. If you select Navigate | Sort | by question, then the questions display in numerical order.

Displaying the Answer and Explanation

If you are taking a test in Study or Custom mode and want to view the correct answer(s), explanation, and reference(s) for a question as you take the test, click Explanation or select Navigation | Display Answer. The correct answer for the question is highlighted and the explanation and reference(s) for the question display.

Please note the Explanation button is not available in Certification mode; therefore, you can only view the correct answer(s), explanation, and reference(s) after you score the test.

If you select Do Not Display Any Answers Until the Test Is Complete from the Custom Mode tab or the Options dialog box, then you will not be able to view the answers, explanations, and references for the test questions until you score the test. You can also select to automatically display the answers to all of your responses or your incorrect responses from the Custom Mode tab or the Options dialog box.
