Summary

In this chapter, I introduced the technologies and standards common to wireless networking. The subjects I presented include:

• An explanation of the common wireless standards you’ll most likely encounter

• The chief wireless organizations and certifications

This information will help you to understand these topics when I discuss them in more depth in later chapters, and aid you in choosing equipment when planning a new WLAN or extending an existing one.
