If you create an image that contains many layers, keeping track of them all can be a bit of a headache. With Photoshop you can organize layers into layer sets. When layers are arranged into sets, you can display just the layer set name in the Layers palette, or click the arrow next to the layer set name to display all the layers contained within that layer set.
The layers in a layer set are not linked together; they are just organized visually in the Layers palette. To find out how to link layers together, turn to “Linking Layers” earlier in this chapter.
To create a layer set: Click the Create a new set button at the bottom of the Layers palette, rename the layer set, and then drag the layers you want in the layer set to the set’s folder icon. Figure 8-7 shows a layer set containing three layers.

To remove a layer from a layer set: Simply drag the layer out of the layer set and move it to another position in the Layers palette.
