The Resize Image Wizard (Resize Image Assistant on a Mac) enables you to do some safe resizing with minimal permanent impact on your images. If you jumped right to this section for the easy way out, definitely read the preceding section first before using this feature.
Find the Resize Image feature on the Help menu on the Photoshop menu bar. The wizard (assistant on a Mac) presents a dialog box (shown in Figure 4-7) that asks you questions regarding your wants and intended use for the image and then steps you through the resizing process.

The great thing about this tool is that if you choose options that it feels are unwise, it warns you that you’re lowering your image quality. You can then step back and try another setting. The wizard (assistant on a Mac) creates a new file, calling it Resize Wizard_1 (Resize Assistant 1 on a Mac), and that’s the version of the file that gets monkeyed around with. Your original file isn’t disturbed at all. All in all, the Resize Image Wizard (Resize Image Assistant on a Mac) is pretty smart, but like anything, the more you know, the better decisions you can make.
