Another significant enhancement to Outlook 2003 is the introduction of Kerberos authentication. If your organization uses Windows Server 2003 domain controllers, users can now authenticate across forests to domain controllers in other trusted forests. KERBEROS SECURITY For more information on working with Kerberos authentication, see Chapter 8, page 101. For securing email messages, Outlook 2003 also supports the new Information Rights Management (IRM) features introduced with Office 2003, which allow you to secure email messages and other Office documents through integration with the Windows Rights Management Services (RMS). WEB RESOURCE For more information on Windows RMS, check out http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/evaluation/news/bulletins/rm.mspx. Using IRM, you can restrict users from printing, copying, or forwarding email messages. For users who might not be using Office 2003, there is an IRM plug-in for Internet Explorer 6 that allows users to view secured messages and files if they are using Windows 2000. Now that you've looked at Outlook 2003, you need to turn your attention toward some of the other clients that you can use to access Exchange Server 2003, which is covered in the next chapter. |
