To test your microphone, follow these steps:

1.	Depending on the version of Linux you are using, go to the Programs section of the desktop manager menu.
2.	Find the Sound & Video section of the menu, and click Sound Recorder.
3.	When the Sound Recorder panel is displayed, try to record your speech through the microphone you use.
4.	Try to play your recording back.
5.	If you still can't hear your recording, go the Sounds and Audio section of Control Panel and try adjusting the microphone settings until the recording test works, or refer to Chapter 7 for additional help.
