Section 19.5. How does access management change within ESA?

19.5. How does access management change within ESA?

Again, in an ESA environment in which each service must be secure and in which business processes flow across multiple systems in potentially multiple companies, there's a need for centralized access management. Additionally a federated model will be required for business processes that run across multiple companies in B2B scenarios.

Standards development for federated identity efforts is being driven by initiatives such as the Liberty Alliance Project, a global consortium of more than 150 companies, nonprofits, and government organizations that has been laying the groundwork on this issue since 2001. OASIS, which created the WS-Security and SAML standards, has also proposed WS-Trust and WS-Security-Policy for identity and access management purposes. (SAP is a founding member of the Liberty Alliance Project and is actively involved with OASIS.)
