Insert a Section Break


You can insert a section break in a document to establish different margins, headers, footers, vertical page alignment, and other page formatting settings in different portions of your document.

  1. Click in the location where you want to start a new section in your document.

  2. Click Insert.

  3. Click Break.

  4. Click an option to select the type of section break you want to insert (image from book

How does Word handle printing when I insert a section break?

Section breaks are formatting marks that do not print; instead, the effects of the section break are apparent when you print. For example, if you insert a Next Page section break (image from book changes to image from book), Word starts the text that immediately follows the section break on a new page.

What happens if I select Even page or Odd page?
