Add a Paragraph Border


You can add a border to a paragraph containing important information to draw attention to it.

  1. Select the text that you want to surround with a border.

  2. Click Format.

  3. Click Borders and Shading.

    The Borders and Shading dialog box appears.

  4. Click the Borders tab.

  5. Click here to select a type of border.

    Note 

    This example uses Box.

  6. Click here to select the style for the border line.

  7. Click here and select a color for the border line.

  8. Click here and select a thickness for the border line.

  9. Click OK.

    Is there a faster way I can add a border to a paragraph?

    If you are willing to forego setting the color, style, and thickness of the border, you can use the Border icon (image from book on image from book

    Word applies the border.
