Run a Macro


You can run a macro to save time and let Word perform the actions stored in the macro.

To record a macro, see the section “Create a Macro.”

FROM THE MENUS

  1. Position the insertion point in your document where you want the results of the macro to appear.

  2. Click Tools.

  3. Click Macro.

  4. Click Macros.

  5. Click the macro you want to run.

    In this example, the macro inserted a closing for a business letter.

FROM A KEYBOARD SHORTCUT

  1. Position the insertion point in your document where you want the results of the macro to appear.

  2. Press the key combination you assigned to the macro.

Can I assign a macro to a toolbar button after creating the macro?

Yes. To do so, perform these steps:

  1. Follow steps 1 to 4 in the section “Add Buttons to a Toolbar.”

  2. In the Customize dialog box that appears, click Macros in the Categories list.

  3. Click and drag the macro from the Commands list to the toolbar.

    image from book You can rename the button by right-clicking the toolbar button and typing a new name in the Name box.
