Add Buttons to a Toolbar


You can customize a toolbar by adding buttons to give yourself quick access to the commands you use most often.

  1. If the toolbar you want to customize is not already displayed, right-click any toolbar and click the toolbar you want to customize to display it.

  2. Click Tools.

  3. Click Customize.

    The Customize dialog box appears.

  4. Click the Commands tab.

  5. Click the category containing the button you want to add to a toolbar.

  1. Drag the command you want to add to the toolbar.

    image from book The mouse pointer changes to image from book, and image from book represents the location on the toolbar where the button will appear.

  2. Repeat steps 5 to 6 for each button you want to add.

  3. Click Close.

Is there an easy way I can get rid of changes I made to a toolbar?

Yes, you can reset it, by following these steps:

  1. Perform steps 1 to 3.

  2. Click the Toolbars tab.

  3. Click the toolbar you want to restore to its original appearance.

  4. Click Reset.

  5. In the Reset Toolbar dialog box, click OK.

  6. Click Close.

    Word resets your toolbar.
