You can add a text box to your document to control the placement of text.
Text boxes are visible only in Print Layout, Web Layout, and Reading Layout views.
Right-click any toolbar.
Click Drawing.
The Drawing toolbar appears at the bottom of the screen.
Click the Text Box icon ().
Word adds a drawing canvas to your document where you can add, move, and size graphics.
The mouse pointer changes to .
Position the mouse at the upper left corner of the place where you want the text box to appear.
Drag the mouse down and to the right until the text box is the size you want.
When you release the mouse button, the text box and the Text Box toolbar appear, and the insertion point appears in the text box.
Type the text you want to appear in the text box.

You can press to hide the drawing canvas.
How do I delete a text box?
Follow these steps:
Click any edge of the text box.
The border of the text box changes.
Press .
The text box disappears from the drawing canvas.
To delete the drawing canvas, click any edge and press .
