Chapter 3: Web Services Adoption

The implementation of Web services as part of an overarching business strategy will be critical to both the effective use of the technology as well as the success of the business. Chapter 1, “A Day in the Life of a CIO,” outlined the Web services adoption model that profiles four macro phases in which Web services will be incorporated into the fabric of all organizations. This chapter takes a detailed look at the phases of the adoption model and discusses practical actions that every organization should consider as their use of Web services evolves and expands.
