The project had a reference strategy we had certain expectations in embarking on the XP process with this project. These expectations, although never explicitly communicated, were the following:
Give our client positive feedback via quick releases to get more buy-in.
Be able to "manage expectations" more easily because of the client's constant involvement in making decisions about functionality.
Have a better-quality product. Because this decision was made on a project that was on a death march, we hoped to not only revive it but make it a thriving project.
Get away from integration problems caused by several subteams working on their own functionality and then having the pieces "come together" at the end for a fully functioning product.
Finally, and most importantly, deliver a quality product on time that addresses our client's needs and will be used successfully by the business for years to come.
