About the Authors

Laurie Williams is an assistant professor of computer science at North Carolina State University. Dr. Williams has a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Utah, an M.B.A. from Duke University, and a B.S. in industrial engineering from Lehigh University. She worked for IBM for nine years in engineering and software development before obtaining her Ph.D. Dr. Williams is recognized as an expert on the technique of pair programming. She is currently writing a book for Addison-Wesley entitled Pair Programming Illuminated, to be published in 2002. She can be reached at williams@csc.ncsu.edu.

Giancarlo Succi is a full professor of computer science and director of the Center for Applied Software Engineering at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano. He holds a Laurea Degree in electrical engineering (University of Genova), an M.S. in computer science (SUNY Buffalo), and a Ph.D. in computer and electrical engineering (University of Genova). Dr. Succi researches and consults on XP, AMs, object orientation, software product lines, software metrics, and empirical software engineering. He can be reached at Giancarlo.Succi@unibz.it.

Milorad Stefanovic is a software developer at IBM Canada in Toronto. He holds an M.S. from the University of Alberta.

Michele Marchesi is a full professor of computer science in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of Cagliary University in Italy. He started to program almost 30 years ago and has been using object-oriented programming for more than 15 years. His main fields of interest are OO languages, software development processes, connectionism, and financial applications of engineering. He was the program chair of the first three International Conferences on Extreme Programming and Agile Processes in Software Engineering, held in Sardinia, Italy, in 2000, 2001, and 2002. He authored a book on Smalltalk language and edited, with Professor Giancarlo Succi, the book Extreme Programming Examined, published by Addison-Wesley in 2001.
