In this chapter, I covered why versioning is important and how it applies to build, source tree labels, .NET assemblies, and setup. The main point in this chapter is to make sure you have a good versioning scheme and to keep it consistent throughout your product. The four-part number scheme discussed in this chapter has been effective for the product groups at Microsoft for years.
