About the Author

Michael T. Macfarlane, M.D., graduated Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) from the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University, New York, New York. After completing two years of general surgery training at the Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston, he went on to serve as resident in Urology at the UCLA School of Medicine in Los Angeles. While serving as Chief Resident at UCLA, he wrote the first edition of Urology for the House Officer. After completing his urologic residency, he stayed on as Assistant Professor of Surgery/Urology at UCLA and was the Chief of Urology at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Sepulveda, California. Dr. Macfarlane is at present in the practice of urology and a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery/Urology at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, Louisville, Kentucky.
