Chapter 9 -- Restructure Tools

Chapter 9

About This Chapter

Chapter 8, "Developing a Domain Restructure Strategy," covered many of the aspects of planning a restructure. In this chapter, you'll examine the tools required by a restructure process and use them to perform your own mini-migration.

Before You Begin

You need a thorough knowledge of the Microsoft Windows NT and Microsoft Windows 2000 domains and Active Directory mechanisms. You must also have completed the configuration of PC1 and PC2 as carried out in the practices of the previous chapter and ensure that Service Pack 5 for Windows NT is installed on MIGRATE1.

Chapter Relevancy

This chapter is important to those directly involved in performing the Windows NT restructure migration to Windows 2000. The chapter describes the tools to use to perform a restructure and gives examples of their use. Finally, the chapter details the steps required to take a Windows NT domain configuration and move it to an appropriate Windows 2000 Active Directory infrastructure.
