About This Chapter

One goal of a migration is to ensure that existing network services are maintained during migration and potentially improved upon once the migration has taken place. In order to do this you must acquire detailed information about essential services. This chapter examines the areas of the network that require analysis prior to a migration to Microsoft Windows 2000.

Before You Begin

To complete this chapter, you must have

  • Two networked PCs set up and configured as described in "Getting Started." PC1 is configured as a PDC named MIGKIT1 and PC2 is configured as a BDC named MIGKIT2.
