Metadata Templates

You've seen how powerful metadata can be. With it, you can search, filter, and sort your Library to find specific images. You've also probably come to see that applying metadata can be time-consuming. Fortunately, if you find yourself regularly applying the same metadatasuch as your name and copyrightthen Aperture has one other feature that might be very useful.

1.

Select any image in the Pickle Circus project.

2.

If the Metadata Inspector is not visible, press Control-D.

3.

From the Action pop-up menu in the upper right corner of the Metadata Inspector, choose "Save as Preset."

Aperture will prompt you for a name. Enter any descriptive title and click OK. Now, any time you want to apply that same metadata to an image or group of images, just select the images and choose either "Append with Preset" or "Replace with Preset" from the Metadata Inspector Action menu.

Over time, you can build a collection of metadata templates that you can quickly apply.
