Applying Adjustments to a Group of Images

The hero images are done, but we need to apply the same adjustments to the other images in the Light Table album in case the client decides to use them.

1.

Press F to return to the Light Table.

Once we return to the Light Table you will notice the image adjustments we applied to the larger, hero images when compared to the other, smaller images in the Light Table.

2.

Select the Lift tool.

The Lift & Stamp HUD appears.

3.

Click the sidewalk hero image with the Lift tool.

The adjustments we applied to the sidewalk hero image are lifted and then deposited into the Lift & Stamp HUD.

4.

Click the disclosure triangle next to Adjustments in the Lift & Stamp HUD.

The Levels and Exposure adjustments appear on the Lift & Stamp HUD, as do IPTC metadata and some custom information. The only information we need to stamp, or copy, on the other images are the image adjustments.

5.

Click the checkboxes next to IPTC and Custom to turn them off. This ensures they will not be stamped onto any other images.

Tip

You can also select the items and press Delete to remove them from the Lift & Stamp HUD altogether.

6.

Drag to select all the sidewalk images in the Light Table.

We'll be sending the clients only the hero images and the other favorites, but it's a good idea to adjust all of the images in case the client wants to see them.

7.

Click the Stamp Selected Images button in the Lift & Stamp HUD. The resulting action is highly processor intensive and may take a few moments.

After a few moments the images update with the adjustments applied to them. Note the adjustments badge on the lower right of each image.

Now, let's lift and stamp the adjustments on the tropical images.

8.

Option-click the hero image from the tropical group.

Option-clicking in an image replaces the existing Lift settings with parameters from the image you Option-clicked.

9.

Select all the tropical images.

10.

Click the Stamp Selected Images button.

The selected images update with the new adjustments.

11.

Close the Lift & Stamp HUD.

All the images are now adjusted. You could simply select and export the two favorite image groups, but a better solution is to create a Smart Album. A Smart Album will allow you to change your mind by altering the ratings for individual images.
