On-Line Seminars

On-line seminars, also known as "Webinars" or "Webcasts" also represent a relatively new type of system that is oriented toward specialists that are unable to leave their workplaces even for a few hours. As opposed to distance learning, a Webinar lasts for only a few hours, and covers only one topic, whereas a distance learning course might take several days (or even months) and cover a wide range of topics. Such seminars solve problems such as finding a place to hold classes and limitations to class size (hundreds or even thousands of users can connect to web server on which the seminar takes place). Finally, users can attend an on-line seminar any time after it has finished, since its contents are saved into an archive.

Practically every company and organization working on the intrusion detection systems market conducts these seminars. This form of education is standard for ISS, Axent, Tripwire, SANS, etc. Cisco Systems has also recently started to conduct on-line seminars.
