Prep Work

Before you begin to build this application, make sure your prep work has been completed.

1.

Create the data source containing the necessary tables.

ASP and ColdFusion users should use the Recipes.mdb data source found in the downloaded files, while PHP users should work with the Recipes data source. For assistance in locating and installing these files, choose Help > Web Application Recipes.

2.

Set up a connection to the data source.

Name the connection Recipes.

3.

Build the template to be used for the application.

Use the template for your server model named userlogin.

4.

ColdFusion users only: Enable session management by taking two actions. First, make sure that Session Variables are enabled in the ColdFusion Administrator by checking the Memory Variables category in the Administrator. Second, make sure that the Application.cfm file included with the starting point files is stored in the same directory as your application. Details on the Application.cfm file are found in "Setting Up the Application.cfm File" in Chapter 1, "Basic Principles of Data Source Design."
