Eliminate Spam with Mail

Spam is one of those things that people love to hate . . . and not without reason. Spam has taken over many people’s mailboxes with ridiculous offers and scams and wastes hours of time. Fortunately, the Mail application that ships with Panther has some great utilities that help tame the beast that is spam.

Perhaps the biggest nuisance of spam is the fact that it is not always easy to determine which e-mail is spam and which is not. Through an ingenious use of color-coding, Mail makes it easy to identify spam with only a quick glance.

Customize It!

If you do not like the brownish shade that Mail uses to mark spam e-mail, you are free to change it. Click Mail → Preferences. In the Preferences window that appears, click the Rules button. In the Rules list, select the Junk item and click the Edit button. Change the color to one more to your liking.
