Save Time with Keyboard Shortcuts

Task #36

Difficulty Level 2

Most Macintosh owners do not realize that Panther makes it easy to change the global keyboard shortcuts, which work the same in all applications, for all sorts of operating system commands and applications. You may want to change a specific default because you find it hard to remember or difficult to use — or you may decide to add an entirely new keyboard shortcut for your needs.

Customize It!

To add a new keyboard shortcut, click the + button in the Keyboard & Mouse pane of System Preferences. Choose the target application that will recognize the new shortcut and type the menu command that will be triggered by the shortcut. Note that the command name must be spelled exactly as it appears in the menu. Click in the Keyboard Shortcut box and type the new shortcut; then click Add.
