Start or Shut Down your Mac Automatically

Task #33

Difficulty Level 2

Would you like your Macintosh ready and waiting for you when you reach your home or office? How about leaving your Mac on when you leave and allowing it to turn itself off? Using your Mac’s built-in clock, Panther can start up or shut down your computer automatically on a regular schedule.

If you combine this feature with Panther’s capability to automatically log in a specific account and automatically launch Startup items for that account, you can walk into your office and be greeted with Word, iCal, or Apple Mail already running!

Did You Know?

By default, your Macintosh remains off if you are hit by a power failure — however, you can specify that Panther should restart your Mac automatically after a power failure. From the Energy Saver pane, click the Options button and then click the Restart Automatically after a Power Failure check box to enable it.
