Use iChat Keyboard Shortcuts

You can speed up your iChat use with a variety of handy keyboard shortcuts. Some shortcuts help you organize your chat sessions, whereas others make features easier to use.

One keyboard shortcut permits you to type a multiline message without waiting for the text to wrap. This forces the message text box to grow by one line.

For quick entry of the numerous smiley faces, you can type the standard keyboard shortcuts. By not resorting to the mouse, you can save yourself time and effort.

Customize It

You can customize the background of your chat windows by selecting View → Set Chat Background. You can also access this feature by Control+clicking in the View section of the chat window itself. If you get tired of the customized background, you can deactivate it by choosing View → Clear Background.
