Acknowledgments

Instead of saving the best for last, I think it is high time I mention my wife first when it comes to acknowledgments. Without her, I'd probably be stuck in some small apartment with nothing but TV dinners in the refrigerator. She is a constant reminder (especially when the grass gets tall) that there is more to life than my occupation. Thank you for being my best friend.

As far as O'Reilly goes, there isn't a better publisher in the business. I'd like to give special thanks to John Osborn for listening to all of my crazy ideas. And I am especially grateful to Andy Oram for ensuring I stay on a path to lucidity. Andy has been a great role model for a certain up-and-coming editor.

I was very fortunate to have a very talented group of technical reviewers for this book. Without them, this book would have been much weaker. In alphabetical order, they are Rick Kingslan, Carlos Magalhaes, Tony Murray, Joe Richards, Michael B. Smith, and Mitch Tulloch.

Joe Richards, of Joeware (http://www.joeware.net/) fame, wrote Chapter 17 and did an excellent job. Now if I could only convince him to write a book of his own . . .

Mitch Tulloch, well-known author (http://www.mtit.com/), wrote all of the content for Chapter 12, except for the scripting solutions. He did a great job, and I'm really pleased with how it turned out. Mitch is a class act.

Alistair Lowe-Norris wrote most of the content contained in Appendix A and Appendix C.

I also want to thank Mark Russinovich for taking time out of his busy schedule to write the foreword for this book. And thanks for all of the great Sysinternals tools as well.
