Testing the Apache Configuration for Problems

# apachectl configtest

Use this command to test the Apache configuration file for common problems before you use it with a live server. Apache uses the same process to test your configuration each time you issue a restart command using apachectl. This guarantees that a running server will be able to restart successfully using the new configuration file.
