Here’s what you should know after reading this Chapter:
Mac OS X displays onscreen help in the form of help tags and Help Viewer articles.
The Help Viewer application displays short how-to articles, and you can display them by choosing items from the Help menu or by clicking a Help button in a window that has one. The kind of help that you get varies from application to application.
Some Help Viewer articles include links that you click to see related articles, open related applications, or connect to an Internet site.
You can search all Help Viewer articles for words you specify, optionally using the special characters +, |, !, and () to pinpoint what you want to find.
If an object has a help tag, you view it by positioning the mouse pointer on the object and waiting a few seconds. A help tag appears in a small yellow box and succinctly describes the object under the pointer.
Some applications use help systems not provided by Mac OS X.
As a last resort, one can always turn to the manual or to the product’s Web site.
