Additions to Mac OS 9 for Classic

When the Classic environment starts for the first time on a specific computer, it presents a dialog requesting permission to copy a set of files to its System Folder. These files include updates to such items as Startup Disk and AppleScript, and new files such as Classic, Classic RAVE, Classic Support, and Classic Support UI. The files are required; if you click Quit in the dialog, Classic will not start.

To view the files that Mac OS X uses to update Mac OS 9.2, do the following:

1.

In the Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder (Shift-Command-G).

2.

In the "Go to the folder" field, enter the following path:

/System/Library/CoreServices/Classic Startup.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/SystemFiles

3.

Click Go.

If Classic develops startup problems and you suspect that file corruption may be an issue, you can use this archive to replace the corresponding files in your Classic System Folder.
