Message Properties

There are two parts to the data encapsulated in BPEL4WS messages:

  • Application data

  • Protocol-relevant data

Business protocol data is the correlation token leveraged in correlation sets. This includes security, transaction, and message protocols. This data is embedded in the application-visible message parts, in contrast to the infrastructure protocols, which add implicit parts to the message types representing protocol headers. Message properties are defined as a way of naming and representing distinguished data elements encapsulated within a message.
