There have been several examples that have been followed in each of the preceding chapters. In the next part, common issues frequently encountered in international projects are explored. Here the methods and themes of the book are applied to three common types of international projects: software deployment, mergers and acquisitions, and new product introduction. These have been selected from among 30 different types of international projects that we have managed and participated in. These were also picked because they have very different characteristics from each other.
These three chapters are organized around the themes of the book: issues, templates, and lessons learned. In the issue part, a number of specific issues are examined for that type of project. In the template section the major areas of a project of this type are discussed. Finally, there are several lessons learned provided that apply to this type of project. The purpose of these chapters is to give more insight into how to manage types of international projects.
