		2.4.1— Bifurcation: An Abrupt Shift in Behavior

		The behavior of a system may depend on the values of certain properties of the system. These values are called parameters.

		You might expect that when the value of a parameter changes by a small amount the behavior of the system also changes in a small way.

		However, sometimes, when the value of a parameter changes by a small amount, there is a large change in the behavior of the system. This is called a bifurcation.
