>The code in this book has been verified to work against Microsoft Visual Studio .NET Professional and Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 Professional, and therefore against versions 1.0 and 1.1 of the .NET Framework. Any minor changes necessary to the code are noted in the text. The Enterprise version of VS .NET and the full version of SQL Server are useful but not necessary; Microsoft Data Engine (MSDE) can handle the database work in the later chapters, albeit without quite so much help from the IDE. Technically you can even use an Access database, though you'll need to translate the SQL Server stored procedures into code yourself to do this.

In order to run the tools and products listed previously, you'll need at least one PC with Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, or Windows XP Professional Edition installed. To test CSLA .NET's support for multiple physical tiers, of course, you'll need an additional PC for each tier that you wish to add!
