Differences in the Control Interface

LightWave offers a Ctrl+Shift pop-up dialog box as a workflow enhancer so that you can use the left, middle, or right mouse button to open a dialog box. This feature is similar to Maya's marking menus, but in Maya, you can have dozens of them assigned to keyboard combinations, and the same menu appears regardless of the mouse button you click. Maya's marking menus are mostly user-defined. Maya also offers the Hotbox for access to all functions in one overlay that's activated with the spacebar. Many Maya users leave the interface hidden except for the 3D panels and rely on the Hotbox and their marking menus for most of their work.
