Finding Out What an Onscreen Object Is

Many dialog boxes in both Windows and application programs have a small question-mark button in the upper-right corner, next to the Close button. This Help button enables you to find out what an object is. Click this question-mark Help button and then click an item in the dialog box-an icon, button, label, or box. A small window appears with a description of the object you clicked. To dismiss the window, click anywhere in the dialog box.

Another way to display information about an item on the screen is to hover the mouse pointer over the item. A help box appears with a brief description of the item. Click anywhere onscreen to close the help box.
