To play or record WAV files (with the extension .wav), you can use the built-in Sound Recorder program. Choose Start All Programs Accessories Sound Recorder. You see the Sound Recorder window, shown in Figure 20-8. If you are used to the program in earlier versions of Windows, you will be surprised. The latest version does not include as many " bells and whistles" as those versions. You can click the Start Recording button, speak your part, click Stop Recording, and save the sound file. If you click Stop Recording and click Cancel in the Save As dialog box, you can then click Resume Recording in the Sound Recorder window to add to your sound file.
To play back a sound you recorded, open Windows Explorer, locate the sound, and double-click it. Windows Media Player plays back the sound.
