You learned how to use communication components in Chapter 2 and have seen a quick description of each API. This chapter goes deeper, and shows you how to modify an existing component and how to create a whole new one. The second part of this chapter will dive into the server-side framework code and discuss its core features and data structures in detail. At the end of the chapter, we will run through most of the framework code, with a line-by-line explanation of many framework files. If you find the technical details overwhelming or uninteresting, feel free to skim sections. Much of the highly technical information is for developers who want to fully understand the Macromedia framework so they can adapt or expand it, or develop their own custom frameworks. |
