SCOTTeVEST Sport TEC Technology Enabled Clothing
The answer comes in the SCOTTeVEST line of technology enabled clothing. Company founder Scott Jordan has created a line of clothing specially designed to hold all manner of electronic devices, while still remaining sleek and stylish. It's quite an accomplishment. Let's take a look at a few popular pieces of SCOTTeVEST clothing, starting with the Three.0 Cotton Jacket. On the outside, it looks like a typical waterproof jacket, nothing special. However, the jacket consists of an outer shell and a fleece inner coat that zips into it. Hidden within the outer jacket are a whopping 30 pockets, while the inner lining has 12 more pockets. While the shear number of pockets is impressive, it's how they work that really counts. Most of these pockets are special hanging pockets that attach to the body of the garment only at the opening; this enables the pocket's contents to hang freely within the interior space of the clothing, thus eliminating unsightly tucks and bulges. You can load yourself up with dozens of different devices, and it won't look like you're carrying. In addition, many of these pockets are actually pockets in pockets, which let you change the size to accommodate different-sized devices. Nearly every pocket can be zippered closed, for added security. (You don't want your PDA falling out as you bounce jollily down the street now, do you?) Similar design is the TEC Sport Jacket. To the casual observer, it looks like a classic blue blazer. Inside, however, you have dozens of hidden pockets and pockets in pockets. The TEC Sport Jacket also features what SCOTTeVEST calls a Personal Area Network, which is a series of holes and passages that link all the pockets to one another through the jacket's lining. This lets you string together power cords, earphones, antennas, and the like, without anyone seeing the wires. All of these features can also be found in the SeV Hidden Cargo Pants. What looks like a standard pair of khakis hosts eleven layered pockets, which you fasten closed with small magnets. (No annoying Velcro here!) Like the other items, you can pack your pants full of all sorts of fun stuff, and no one will notice. It's like being a stealth nerd.
Suunto N3i Smart WatchSuunto's N3i looks like a normal wrist watch with a big LCD display. The display is for all the information you'll receive from Microsoft's MSN Direct service, which delivers news, weather, sports, and stock information, as well as instant messages from your online buddies. You also get an online calendar and appointment scheduler and Internet-accurate time all of which requires you to subscribe to the MSN Direct service, which costs $9.99 per month. But then you'll be connected continuously the ultimate wireless wired guy.
Venexx Perfume WatchI can't help it; this gizmo reminds me of something the Joker would wear, although he'd probably fill it with laughing gas or acid or some other concoction that the Batman would find similarly sinister. For you and me, we get to fill this watch with perfume yes, perfume. Turn the bezel downward and the sprayer appears; press the button to spray a burst of your favorite fragrance. Yeah, I have no idea why anyone would want to spray perfume from a wrist watch, but what do I know? It's a neat little gadget, in any case.
The HUB Snowboarding Jacket/MP3 PlayerI like high-tech clothing, which is why I'm looking forward to production versions of this prototype snowboarding jacket. The HUB contains its own MP3 player, a microphone sewn into the collar (for voice recognition control), and a Bluetooth module. The jacket connects wirelessly to a fabric keyboard embedded into the sleeve of the jacket, and to speakers built into the matching helmet. It's everything the high-tech snowboarder needs! (Check with the manufacturer for U.S. availability.)
GloThong Illuminated Thong UnderwearNot all high-tech clothing has to be nerdly practical; high-tech can also be fun, as evidenced by this illuminated thong underwear. The GloThong is an electroluminescent thong with lightweight waterproof rechargeable battery. The glowing underwear holds a charge for about an hour and a half, and there's a detachable plug for recharging. It comes in lime green, turquoise, royal blue, and lipstick red and in both female and male versions.
